Our Parent Teacher Association was formed in the Spring Term 2017 in order to support the School and, early events included a ‘Bring and Buy’ and Cake Sale and an Easter Egg Raffle, launching the PTA and encouraging other parents to become involved. The two initial events raised sufficient funds for us to buy a greenhouse for the Nursery which allows children to have even greater experience of gardening and growing and we are extremely grateful for their support. The committee members have undergone DBS checks and are now volunteering in Nursery and in Resource Base. Happy Families PTA arranged celebrations to mark Garretts Green Nursery School’s 70th Anniversary during the Summer Term 2017. The school opened in the post-World War II period to provide childcare for women who were returning to work in the newly-opened businesses along Garretts Green Lane and 2016-17 is a landmark in its history. Happy Families also provided a School Uniform Sale at the Induction Meeting for parents who were new to the school. Additional events supported by Happy Families have included: • MacMillan Cancer Support Cake Sale • Garretts Green Nursery School Christmas Fair • Easter Egg raffle and Cake Sale • Summer Fair We are extremely grateful to Happy Families and to all our parents who support the events organised.
