As the chicks had grown they were ready to be handled last week. The children recalled we needed to use our little voices so not to scare them and two fingers to stroke them. Some children also chose to hold them and remembered not to close their hands but to keep them as flat as they could. ‘I can see sharp claws’ said one child. ‘He is soft’ said another. The children have been really keen to observe the chicks and were sad to say goodbye to them on Friday but know the chicks will have more room on the farm as they grow and continue to get bigger.
